Dear Political Forum friends,

Recently on the news, it has come to my attention that there are groups of Anti-Capitalists that are rioting in the streets of Ameican states. These are my thoughts:

Stop. You have many countries to go to (Russia, North Korea, hell even China) so please don't ruin it for us Americans that are proud to be Capitalists. China almost has a better economy than America, so let us enjoy it while we can.

If you don't like our way, then leave. Go spit in another countries bucket. Capitalism is what makes America what it is the land of the free and the home of the brave.

America sucks and it is because of capitalism. We workers are not free.

This is true, although most countries nowadays are not much better and many are worse. For all the faults of the old communist regimes of the Eastern Bloc, people generally had a pretty decent standard of living, especially when you consider that most of the East was way behind the capitalist core (North America and Western Europe) right from the get go. The collapse of the USSR was a disaster for working people everywhere.

Also, I would say the U.S. standard of living is overrated when you take into account the pressure, anxiety, bad health, crummy social relationships, insecurity, long hours, etc., that most workers experience. Also, U.S. consumerism is heavily built on private debt, which just encourages the cycle of overwork and anxiety.

You of all people should love America, for it apparently has been your kin's home for over 400 years. Why do you support communism? Plus, I am 4th gen in America. It's odd that one of the worlds first explicitly secular country, founded by deists, who signed the treaty of tripoli that said explicitly (And I do quote directly from the treaty) said that this is not a christian nation.

The US was founded as one of the most progressive countries ever, and modern conservatives want to drag it backwards through time to a place that never existed.

As far as trolling attempts go, this is pretty tame.

I find it funny that you repeat the "if you don't like it, go to Russia" line now given that I've heard people tell conservatives who are enamored with Putin and Russia's anti-gay laws that they should move to Russia as well. So which is it, Russia as a paradise for conservatives or a paradise for communists? Make up your mind! Russia hasn't been any kind of socialist for over two decades now. Try to keep up.

Also, how shallow do you have to be as a people to have your entire identity be bound up with capitalism and rampant consumerism? You don't often see a communist in France for instance being told that they're "not really French" because of their political ideology. This is one-dimensional man writ large. Also this concept that in order to be a "good American" one must have complete obedience to the ruling ideology. Is this what you consider freedom? Sounds like a convenient form of national myth making to keep the workers subservient.

Also I suspect you're being disingenuous with this "god given country" stuff - you just claimed in another thread that you're agnostic and don't have a religious bias but here you are claiming that what I presume is the Abrahamic God gave America to...who? The European settlers as they enslaved and exterminated the populations that were here before and then took the land? Land isn't "given" it is simply worked by humans and in the case of America was taken by force from another group of people.

There is more to a country and its people than the ruling ideology and socioeconomic system of the day. I like America just fine thank you, because I understand that it is more than that and can be better than it is now.

They would never do that because in their heart of hearts they are all consumerist loving capitalists. Actions speak louder than words. They are all products of capitalism. Gluttonous and self serving living for instant self gratification. Almost all of the self proclaimed communists are overweight, out of shape and abuse all sorts of drugs. They have never experienced hunger or oppression or poverty or war or any discomfort. A bunch of spoiled brats living in the first world. Why would they ever leave their privileged and comfy lifestyles behind? Sure, it's nice to talk about but practicing it is an entirely different matter.

I'm a Communist who lives in the US, and this is where I come from. So where would I "go back to" exactly?
