I'd so drive that.

I haven't had an El Camino, but I used to own it's big brother: The Ford Ranchero. Mine was gray though.

And how do we get this far without mentioning a Yugo:

Wait, that guy lives in Oregon...I must track him down and hit him over the head with that car for owning it.

Morris Mino-Minor. Especially because of the pretensions of it being a response and adversary to the Beetle.

Isn't that the one that had a peculiar automatic transmission that could go just as fast in Reverse as it did in Forward gear?

Yeah, you are absolutely right, 100kmh in reverse!

You gotta love it!

:p

That being said, beyond the quirkiness of it, I remember reading an article about it on Jalopnik and that transmission was quite fascinating. I can't remember how it did with torque, revs and subsequent fuel efficiency, but it makes lots of sense to have this kind of, no pun intended, straightforward system.

You have to be joking. The 1959 Coupe de Ville convertible is probably the most beautiful car Detroit ever made. I used to ride in one as a kid all the time. They're gorgeous, comfortable, powerful -- not to mention the perfect make-out car. Yowza.
