Basically:
Humanism: A system of thought that centers on humans and their values, capacities, and worth. Concern with the interests, needs, and welfare of humans.

Socialism: Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which production is for use and resources are shared to meet the needs of everyone.

These sites seem to have very similar ideas:

I came across the site New Humanist today and though it was a very good site, obviously very much of left wing beliefs. So what do you think, are humanism and socialism one in the same? Inter-related? Not related?

Interesting, there seems to be many different named parties out there that share a common ideal, hopefully more and more will unite for the greater good.

I agree. That's why I like organisations like The Socialist International - which is the single largest political organisation in the world. However, some of the parties that are a part of it seem pretty...suspect :hmm:. For example, from New Zealand, the only member is the party currently in Government - Labour. But they are only really centre-left. You'd think a more likely member party would be a more leftist party like The Alliance.

But many of the parties left of the centre-leftist main party are quite small, and perhaps the International has high fees that they can't afford? I don't know.
