I really don't get the fussy rules. Why do the photos have to be black & white? I understand and reluctantly accept that it has to be a photo of a person, but why do we discriminate against colour photos? Do we want to make our discussions sound even more fancy and professional or something? It makes absolutely no sense to me, the black/white colours are dull and impractical for some people. It sounds like a conformity rule to me.

Can someone please clarify.

The colorization of avatars has been a gateway progression to other problems, consider yourself lucky, as at one point, one could only select a few in house images as ones avatar.

Past that, the B&W creates a tidy, uniformed outlook that many sites lack and in the end, the only reason of worth is that the owner of the site (Siberian Fox) likes it that way.
