It's currently tied now. Hillary is like barely point 0.2% up. RCP still has her numbers down to like 5.5 so and Trump's long-term numbers still show he has improved since hitting that earlier low a few months back. The line is still trending long-term up despite Hillary sticking to a 5.5 lead. The weekend just clearly helped her a little bit because last weeks news cycle was a bad week for her and Obama.

In state polls Clinton is doing great in the states she needs to win as part of her 270 electoral vote strategy. Trump is doing poorly, and is under performing Romney in pretty much every red state. He's also down in Florida and Pennsylvania, which are states he needs to win.

The fact of the matter is that Trump is basically fucked. Hence why he's bringing on Bannon and Ailes, and why he's going out there and telling his supporters that the election is rigged. He knows he can't win it at this point. He's setting up for the next project which just may be, lol, a white power/alt-right news network.

Many people want to be on the side of the winners, so if they see that Trump is doing bad in the polls, they will not vote for him. The rigged polls are used as another psychological weapon, it is one more tool of mind control.
