Russia wont ever attack NATO for the very same reason that NATO strictly avoids to (openly) attack Russia: nuclear deterrence.

Any victory of either side through conventional warfare would be utterly pointless because the next step of the loser would be to resort to nuclear warfare.

After that, the situation would quickly accelerate into the exchange of all nuclear potential on either side. Thousands of ICBMs would be sent around the world and many millions of people would be killed. Afterward an over a decade long nuclear winter would make the survival of mankind as a whole unlikely.

This is basic knowledge since the 1950s. This is what every child gets taught in school. I have absolutely no clue why suddenly so many people dont understand nuclear deterrence anymore. Do children no longer get taught this in school ? Its kind of a very basic fact to understand about the modern world. Its about as ignorant as not knowing the internet exists.
