When the besieged Regime of Somalia Pres Sh. Sharif Sh. Ahmed is acclaiming that the tyranny of Siad Barre didn’t affect only the people of Somaliland but the whole Somali Society, then rest assured this statements should have some selective memory and one can understand what sort of message Mr. Sharif is trying to convey to the public opinion see below the link http://www.somaliland.org/2009/11/21/ma ... liland/....
surely what he lacks to understand is that the history not on the side of those who killed nearly 35.000 thousand, those who massacred people with a cold blood and those who still want to destabilize the serenity that exist in Somaliland, a Serenity that gave Africa another perspective .
Instead of debunking reasons and facts that compel Somaliland to split off from Somalia, Mr. Sharif shamelessly ignoring and acting like nothing happened to the people of Somaliland believing strongly that its Government are only waiting for the proper time for the Unity, he adds by saying quote” if the Somaliland people have got a complain then we will negotiate about it but there’s nothing that apart people who speak the same language, same religion and same culture” I only have to remind the President that our decision made in 1960 with merging and forming a the Somali Unity, a Unity that wasn’t welcomed with the majority of the Somaliland people, a Unity that didn’t make us saver nor secure, a Unity that wiped our people and deprived them from their rights, a Unity that was a curse to the people of Somaliland, yes our big mistake was the day we united with the South.
The Story that connects all Somaliland people with one purpose and one, that its living in every house if you visit and that made them not only cooperate but confront any challenges against their quest for recognition is unique, so I found it hard to understand those assumptions that every leader of South Somalia is clinging when it comes the Somaliland decision which makes me wonder WHY IT’S SO IMPORTANT TO MENTION THIS TIME AND AFTER 20 YEARS A QUEST FOR RECOGNITION THAT’S LEGITMATE TO ANYONE KNOWS THE HISTORY OF SOMALILAND? maybe it’s something clear to everyone who understand and conducts with The Montevideo Convention on the Rights and Duties of States but is not like that to the Leaders of the besieged regime of Somalia who can’t have a viable government against the threat of Al-Shabab or Hizbul Islam, instead chooses Somaliland to be the Cause of the Fall of the Greater Somalia.
Obfuscating the Reality on the ground and not to talk about deeply real things that matter the people of Mogadishu who yearn for a lasting peace in their homeland isn’t the right policy for the President, when we see comments by Sh. Sharif Sh. Ahmed which doesn’t give him the right for the people of Somaliland nor addresses his people desire for a free nation has to tell us something neither Sh. Sharif nor Al-Shabab Militia can change a call that gathered all Somalilanders to form a viable government, to held their leaders accountable and to engage everyone with building a Stronger Somaliland.
in fact what matters the Southern people is not Somaliland or its recognition but for a lasting peace, and ability to see their children growing in a peaceful environment, that’s their dream for the past 20 years that everyone of Somali Leaders couldn’t make it true and if that happens Mr. President you will see us beside you and your people to confront us with the common challenges of 21st century, if that happens you will witness the day that Somaliland, Djibouti and Somalia are strong, stable and independent countries, not only cooperate but confront their adversaries too.
