My thoughts exactly when coming across this thread. What a cluster-fuck that "operation" was, both in concept and execution. Was surprised when I head Nick Du Toit was pardoned.

I don't understand why Equatorial Guinea wants to be like the Singapore of the region? Why shouldn't it be the Equatorial Guinea of Africa? What's with this not wanting to be oneself but something else?

A small country with the size and population of montenegro, coupled with ample oil reserves, is of course going to develop rapidly. Good luck, invest those oil dollars into building a sustainable finance based economy. Could become the diamond of africa.
