Navy's push to mordernise

The Indian navy is poised to add more punch to its armada with its finalistaion of deals worth over 20 Billion US $ (officially 10,000 crore rupees in India) to purchase an aircraft carrier and naval fighter jets from Russia and advanced submarines from France. The name of the aircraft carrier from Russia is Gorshkov. The Gorshkov is larger and has more potent than the navy's existing aircraft carrier, Israeli made INS Viraat.
India is also serious about purchasing American long range survailence aircraft, but negotiations are in the intial stages. India has refused to comment whether it may buy nuclear submarines or nuclear bombers from Russia.

Worlds fastest missile anti-ship test succesful

The Indian and Russian made BrahMos missile was blasted from a warship of the Indian navy of Chandipur, on the East coast of India. The missile travelled 290 km (maximum range allowed) and rammed a decomisioned ship of the navy, destroying it. The navy's warship was cruising at 12 to 15 knots an hour, when BrahMos was launched from it and gained the speed of the times that of sound, that is, Mach 3. Two tricky manouvers were achieved:
Launching the missile from the ship in motion and the missile hitting the target which was also moving.
India has high plans of largely improving the BrahMos missile in the future with Russia.

Please note- The test was conducted on November 3rd, the information was made public two days ago.
