Satire for October 2010 - Page 6 - Politics Forum.org | PoFo

Wandering the information superhighway, he came upon the last refuge of civilization, PoFo, the only forum on the internet ...

Political and non-political satire; all those terribly biased analogies live here.

[edit] Courses

Despite the use of the term "university" in the title, Beck's courses are not for credit.[3][4][5] As of July 2010[update], available courses include Faith 101, 102, and 103; Hope 101, 102, and 103; and Charity 101, 102 and 103. The classes consist of weekly lectures every Wednesday night.[6]

Faith 101 deals with American history and is taught by David Barton,[2] whom Beck has praised as "the Library of Congress in shoes".[7] Barton is an evangelical Christian minister and author who is known for his argument that the founding fathers renounced the separation of church and state.[6][7] Hope 101 deals with economics and is taught by David L. Buckner, who operates an executive training institute and is an adjunct professor of psychology and education at Columbia University Teachers College,[3][8] as well as an adjunct professor of business at the Stern School of Business at New York University.[9]

Charity 101 is taught by the chair of Louisiana State University political science department James R. Stoner, Jr..[2][6] The course makes the connection between the Constitution, the Federalist Papers, and the U.S. as a charitable nation.[7]
[edit] Coat of arms

Beck University's coat of arms features a quill, an American bison, and an image of George Washington, as well as the motto "Tyrannis Seditio, Obsequium Deo", which is Latin for "Revolution against tyrants, submission to God".[6]

Cringe humour?

It's embarrassing that people are stupid enough to even begin thinking about participating in such a thing.

Mojo wrote:Have you heard the exciting news? Apparently appalled at the paucity of solid learnin' in America (excepting, of course, Texas), media maestro and renowned art historian Glenn Beck has announced the opening of his own great patriotic hall of academe. The forthcoming institution o'learnin', appropriately titled Beck University, will "explore the concepts of Faith, Hope and Charity and show you how they influence America’s past, her present and most importantly her future." Its faculty features such luminaries as a free-market economist whose degree is in psychology and a Texas Republican Party bigwig who hates, hates, HATES church-state separation. It even has an Ivy-style crest—featuring a feather, a buffalo, and the disembodied head of George Washington—and a Latin motto, "Tyrannis Seditio, Obsequium Deo" (roughly translated: "Revolution against tyrants, submission to God").

No word yet on whether RNC Chairman Michael Steele, apparently in need of some good historical and civics education of late, has enrolled. But just in time for the Independence Day weekend, the MoJo staff has produced a list of course offerings we hope to see at Beck U. next fall. If you have suggestions, too, post 'em to the comments or post them to Twitter with the hashtag #BeckUCourses! Let's do some educatin'! Yee haw!

Heh, that looks like the confrontation between Luke Skywalker and Emperor Palpatine at the end of Return of the Jedi. I wonder if Jesus's once-evil-but-now-a-hippy-peacenik father will show up and throw Palpatine, er, I mean the Pope into the abyss? :D
