After looking at the first couple of pages of this sub forum, I realised that it needed another "What's my ideology?" post. So here it goes:

Economy/Economic issues

- Government regulations to ensure worker’s rights are protected
- Unions for workers and employers to discuss fair pay and work conditions - to achieve a sense of family/being/connection/unity within the business
- Public healthcare
- Public education
- Public community centres for recreational activities
- A public housing system that helps people become self-reliant
- Government has stronger control over national resources to ensure that the population is benefitting from the relevant industries (e.g a mining tax).
- Higher taxes on people who can afford private housing, healthcare, education but rely on public services anyway.

National policies/issues

- Harsher punishment for parole violators, Stan.
- Less military spending
- Secular law (no tolerance for religion in regards to running the country)
- A stronger emphasis on a multicultural society for everyone, not just some.
- Recognition of indigenous Australians as the true ancestors of the land and original owners.
- Recognition of indigenous Australians as people and as equals to the non-Aboriginal population (This is from what I’ve heard - It is possible that I am wrong in this regard)
- Voting from 16 to 21 is optional. 21 to 60 is compulsory. 60+ optional (rather than blanket compulsory from 18+).
- Organisations that ensure the government is honest, that transparency is maintained, as well as fair media (in regards to facts - no blatant lies to get views).
- Stronger stance on climate change
- Greater appreciation for science by the government
- University fees increased slightly overall, but are then scaled to what degrees are needed (e.g certain degrees/fields/majors are cheaper than others for as long as they’re needed. Degrees that aren’t needed are just paid full price).
- HECS loans (student loans) remain interest free.

Moral/ethical policies/Issues

- Tobacco cigarettes phased out with newer technology (“e-cigarettes”)
- Legalisation of drugs for medicinal purposes
- Drug restrictions on those who charged for committing crimes under the influence, and harsher penalties for continued offences whilst under restrictions.
- Drinking age back to 21
- Religious studies being an optional subject to learn at any school (which students are taught about 3 - 5 religions that the school chooses)
- Legal recognition of different gender identities
- Gay marriage legalised
- Regulated prostitution services
- Legalisation of euthanasia
- Better rehabilitation for criminals
- Fairer punishments for criminals (e.g. less extreme punishments for minor crimes, harsher for major crimes).
- Military and police watchdog

Foreign policies/Issues

- Recognition of Palestine as a state.
- Recognition of Taiwan
- Support for refugees/asylum seekers from political and social persecution
- Greater involvement in regional discussions
- Greater relations with neighbours
- Uphold the United Nations recommendations on international disputes and issues
- Improve relations with Asia-pacific region
- Less reliance on the United States
- End the government worship of the United States
- Maintain/improve relationship with allies.

These are just my personal beliefs on what needs to be focused on/changed/or especially kept the same from change. It would be a bit difficult for me to cover my entire views on what I think should be kept/changed in Australia, but I'm sure the things I have listed have been enough.

I feel like I'm somewhat of a social democrat, with socially liberal views.. I'm not sure what someone would consider my economic views to be. I like to think my views are rational/aren't expecting too much.

I'm willing to explain some of them into depth if it's needed.

I'm sympathetic to groups such as the Socialist Alliance, and other groups that promote social justice (they don't have my full support though). I am pretty terrified of fascists and neo-conservatives.
