I don't know if your interested but this guy was a Communist who came from the North East of Scotland, like me .
I highly recommend his trilogy, A Scots Quair to fellow Communists, as I found it an absolutely rivetting read!.
My suggestion(from a Marxist point of view) is to read the last part of the trilogy, Grey Granite, first then Sunset Song and Cloud Howe afterwards!.
