If not for American intervention, the map of Europe would mostly be called Germany. ;)

Well that's downright untrue. Most of the fall of Germany in WWII was due to the influence of Russia and Germany's own overreach. The USA joined the party fairly late, and while they did make a difference, giving them most of the thanks for liberating France or the like is ridiculous.

Scamp please...try to make arguments that at least have a tinge of truth in them...otherwise you'll find yourself relegated to the "Idiots" column...

Pretty much 100% of Americans would find the EU in a map, I bet the percentage of Europeans who could find Colorado on a map would be much lower.

The US is a country. The EU is not a country, you are comparing apples and oranges.

Can you find Poland on the map?

Of course. :eh:

Well, considering the fact that Scamp is a Neo-Confederate, I'd say he's already in the "Idiots" column.

As for why Europeans hate Americans...they only hate right-wing Americans; and only right-wing Americans hate Europe.
Lefties like myself love Europe...I mean, have you ever eaten Gelato??

So Jeliza-Rose... I guess if you side against the Confederates, that puts you on the Union side that invaded their neighbors and waged war against civilians and committed atrocities. Hey, that sounds like the Nazi's. I guess you are on their side also, unless you have double standards. But I would not stoop so low as you did and call you an idiot.

Europe has right wingers too though and despite universal healthcare most European countries aren't as left as they first appear. Many have restrictive speech laws and other less than liberal practices, the US is just colored by the religious bits creating a false perception.

Not exactly absolute proof but also not leftist.

Of-course they have right-wingers  and presumably, they would side with our right-wingers.
Scamp and his fellow wing-nuts here in the United states are obsessed with the Leftist-Socialist-Nazi-Communist European Cabal who hate America for our freedom...I was just dumbing it down for his sake. You see, right-wingers can only see the world in black & white.

Actually...I believe Jeliza said NEO-CONFEDERATE.
But being that you reside in the column you do...we'll excuse your lack of reading comprehension as well Sir.

When I was at college, the exchange students always said that picking on American Exceptionalism is a tease.

Europe doesn't hate America. At best, it's a bunch of spoiled brats who lucked out from the Marshall Plan and weren't overrun by the Soviets.

Given America's social democratic course, I doubt Europe will hate America in the future either.
#14056902
Ah, the good ol marshall plan, exaggeration of which never stops. The whole of Europe lucked out that they didn't had to face yet another (and arguably more devastating war on their land) war because of nigh stupid diplomacy post war with main culprit being the USA of course.

Europe would had been much better if UK had aligned itself with USSR as some corners of British politicians wanted but then it seemed an impossibility.

btw China loves Europe.

I agree. The German economic miracle is a perfect example of its excess.

On the military front, however, it was completely necessary. Otherwise, Western Europe would have been an extremely juicy target for the Soviets in expanding international communism with their bloated MIC.

Diplomacy with the iron curtain?

Yes. China loves Europe because Europe loves shooting itself in the foot.

Considering how much Labour slowed down Britain's post-war recovery, I agree, the UK would have found many comrades in arms with the Soviets.

Baseless paranoid assumptions which are remnants of cold war era should remain in "dustbin of history".

Diplomacy with the iron curtain

No but with creation of NATO and German (West) unification. The point is I am not blaming here any particular side but we can very much argue ad infinitum about who started first.
