I recently stumbled across a debate that might interest some of the people that post here on a Catholic message board called Bored Online (http://www.boredonline.net). The debates are laregely contained in their debate and history forums.

Here are some links to the debates-

This one is a discussion of whether Stalin's a tyrant-

http://boredonline.net/projectbored/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=3392

On whether Lenin was a good leader-

http://boredonline.net/projectbored/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=3454

There are more on Hitler.

And before someone gets upset, I'm not advertising for another site, to be honest I don't even really like this place, but I'm sure that some of the Stalinists would be interested in debating these people.

o... m... g...

I'm verymuch not a communist and not a great lover of either of them... but wow....

with communism's relations with religion, the person that defends communist leaders on a religious board is a brave person

LOL Lenin died before the USSR was created did he not? :eh:

The Soviet Union was officially signed into existence on December 30, 1922. Lenin was still alive at the time but his health was badly ailing. Now he lives in a box.

He was leader of the RSFSR.

These people seem too uniformed to even bother with. Let them post here if they want to be cut to ribbons ;)

Lenin died in 21st of January, 1924. He was in leadership until 1922, when his health began to go worse.

Oh, damn...

First off, he (Lenin) violently oppresed the Church

No, he didn't. The Church oppressed the Russian people. Then, when Lenin put the people on the power, the people mostly wanted no Church.

Lenin should have lost WWII

What's the difference, both their names finish with "in"...

I hate to say that he did opress the chirch and kill people, but I could care much less!

Lennin is an intersting Creature in that box of him... we liked him in the second grade in Moscow... Balls always bounced off his forehead so well...

Stalin is a scar on communism. He should be forgotten in every aspect but to remember his evil ways so they may never be repeated.

Stalin wasn't a Superman. It was his enemies who portrayed him as such.

After Stalin died, the concealed enemies of socialism joined the open reactionaries in painting a picture of Stalin that is basically same as of the 'cult of the individual'. It's just turned upside down, from Superman to 'ULTRA EVIL MASTERMIND', who was behind everything that happened or was alleged to have happened in USSR.

The numbers of people Stalin killed aren't that bad... the West's list of people he 'killed' are not only the people who were shot, but the people who died at war, in the famine, of illness due to poor hospitals - beyond Stalin's control. I do agree someone with paranoia that bad should not have been president, and he did shoot a few too many people. But here we have to ask ourselves... In a famine situation, if someone messes around with the state, then they lose the state money. Money is vital for feeding people with the country in this way. If the state is deprived of just a few pounds a week, that's one less life they can support. In effect, not declaring jewellery or evading taxes or being corrupt in these situations is manslaughter, and if one thinks of the consequences, murder.
But his ideoligies are great Looking at any communist regime you can see that the successful parts of the regime are often similar to Stalin's ideology. So, I am a Stalinist, even if Stalin was too paranoid. And as I said, most of the problems were beyond Stalin's control. The other problems would have been bareable as an investment, were it not for the other factors.

Had he not killed some of my family and that of my close family firends, I may not like him as little as I do now. I will go on his diffence so I am not screamed at however, he got the job done....

Yes yes, I GREATLY agree, maybe a little too much paranoia and shootings, but are not all leaders that way? Shure not THAT bad... but most leaders kill for power, Lennin as an example and Mao... might as well through in Various Europian leaders...

From a military point... he did a good job... making a muilitary, but not keeping the one he had.
