Jean-Claude Risset constructed a musical scale of sorts, which can appear to the ear to be constantly ascending or descending forever. He also apparently made a rhythm which sounds like it is constantly gaining in tempo ...

I just thought it was strange that I'd never come across it before. I mean, everyone has seen the works of Escher, but I'd never heard of Risset.
