Oh for god's sake aren't you American. If the American rebels couldn't defeat the British in the 1770s without the help of the army of absolutist France then what chance for internal resistance to the Nazis. The power projection of Britain in the eighteen century was incredibly limited. A modern centralised state gave for more advantage in the twentieth century. But most of all Americans at least should be aware of the enormous utility of a Nazi style terror regime, because that's what White Americans applied against Blacks. How do people think Black slaves were kept in servitude - through extreme terror. The effectiveness of the resistance movements has been grossly over valued against any regime that's prepared to use serious terror.
The French people in 1940, were as Lions to mice compared to modern day Americans. I remember after 9/11, I thought the American people might be a bit riled up. I thought they might want some kind of vengeance. But no they took it up the arse like good catamites. 15 of the 19 hijackers came from Saudi. But when the Americans asked if they could investigate 9/11 the Saudis told them to go fuck themselves. Attacking Saudi might have caused some real cuts in American living standards and the only resistance that Americans were interested involved going back to the shopping malls. To keep a population under heel, when you're in occupation is incredibly easy. Round up a few kids, shoot them. Round up a few more and shoot them. Keep doing it until the local population identifies and hands over the resistance fighters. After Heydrich was assassinated the Nazis only had to exterminate two little villages and that put an end to an end to any resistance nonsense in Czech for the rest of the war.
The Soviets had far more territory to play with than France if the SU had been the size of France then it would have fallen quicker than France. Plus the Soviet regime was actually better at using terror than the Nazis. The NKVD's terror regime to some extent even extended behind the German lines. Even so Soviet resistance was only so fierce because Germany was led by a cretin who succeeded in alienating tens of millions of people who would have been happy to welcome him as a liberator. Heydrich was stupid to drive around in an open top vehicle, but he applied terror intelligently in Bohemia and Moravia, used carrot as well as stick and was able to get high levels of production out of the Czechs for the German Reich.
