What I find really disturbing is that each of these updates takes you to an ad.

Equally disturbing is another ad, that starts, "If the liberal media told the truth, this man wouldn't be president," followed by a picture of Obama, then a post that tells you of the 37 food items that run out first in a crisis, and an ad to buy those items.

That being said, here are the comments to the post about how we should always say the Pledge of Allegiance in American Schools.

Sadly this is the face of conservatism in the US these days. Just look at this forum and you will see that with a very few exceptions there are no really smart conservatives posting here.

The term 'conservative' has been coopted by the republican party which is certainly not very conservative. It is corporatist. Nearly fascist. Look at what is run on republican web sites as the problems facing America. The carp endlessly about gay marriage, abortion and the attack on Christmas. All weapons of mass distraction. These issues are all virtually meaningless.

So what should a conservative be thinking about?

1. The deficit. The true conservative believes in a balanced budget. How are we going to do that if the republicans thwart every attempt to raise money through appropriate taxes? So who benefits from their no new tax tirades? Only the wealthy. This is not conservative. It is corporatist.

2. Our schools are going to hell in a handbag. Conservatives whine about this all of the time. Again. As long as the solution does not cost money they are all for it. Besides. It is far easier to blame the children of illegals and blacks. The republican party these days is deeply racist.

3. Personal freedom and privacy. Need I even get into the Patriot Act and government spying. A true conservative should be foaming at the mouth over government AND corporate intrusion into our private lives. But that would make some corporation mad.

4. We are fighting all over the world. Real conservatism is for a strong defense. Defense. Defense. Not international power projection. We have no business fighting for "freedom" in Syria. We have no business fighting for human rights outside of our borders. If someone threatens us directly we should annihilate them immediately. Then go back to dinner. It is not our job to be the worlds cop.

5. The destruction of the middle class. A true conservative believes that we care for our own people first. If this costs someone in China their job and an American a few cents more for their TV then so be it.

I could go on and on. Do not confuse republicans with conservatives. One final comment about your links. It is absolutely clear that these are ads pointed at deeply stupid people. These ads do not even make sense.
