See--she chooses a single identity to make her life easier. We all need something to belong to.

I think blonde hair and blue eyes are aesthetically much more attractive, and for that reason I do not want to "mix" when I get married--because I want to pass my blonde hair and blue eyes onto my children.

Blue eyes and blond hair are signs of youth, and when humans migrated into the cold regions of Northern Europe and had to bundle up tightly, women had to conceal their tits and curves. So they evolved other ways to broadcast their youth and health: their faces. So northern women now retain blue eyes and blond hair longer.

Ah - inevitably, I have had this conversation with her. She assures me it is not so much about needing to choose where to belong, but more about choosing where not to belong...

EDIT: And, in fairness, to avoid the casual racism of the English.

Less emotionally developed people do. The next tier above that is individuation.

Most people never get there, nor do they even have the capability to do so.

I look at the mixed race issue culturally as akin to what immigrant's kids have. The various W. European nationalities are culturally distinct to each other, once just as distinct as race is now. But in White immigrant countries over time they are generally equals within the "white" population and many overtime loose their cultural roots.

Is that bad? - no.
Why should the culture of one's ancestors be more important then the culture that person has adopted/created in their home country? If other member of that community are so upset, why are they remaining in a foriegn land?

I read in some science journal about the attraction of blue eyes.
Blue eyed men prefer blue eyed women because blue eyes are a recessive trait and in general two blue eyed parents result in a blue eyed child. If the child isn't blue eyed, the man would know that it isn't his child.

I don't understand why a lot of men go gaga over blond hair though. Maybe because it is rare? Personally I find the black hair with light eyes combination to be attractive. It's just a nice contrast.

Hell if I know Bella, but I like it! Blue eyes (or green eyes) for me are much more important than hair color, and dark hair with blue eyes is indeed a very lovely contrast. I will say that the fact that I have blond hair does play a factor in my wanting to reproduce with a woman who has blond hair, just because it would be nice to to keep it in the family.

I already have "extra heritage" of that sort. My parents are Swedish immigrants and I'm a fluent Swedish speaker. Try again.

Entirely beside the point, but I won't let that stop me.

I passed through Sweden twice last year going to and from Norway, I was there in Jonkoping some years before that. I have to say that I found it a dismal place, the people were reasonably friendly, but so reserved and uptight as to make social contact unrewarding, they appear to lack a sense of humour. Of course I could have been unlucky in my meetings and wouldn't say that all Swedes are as I described.

Despite my Socialist leanings, I found the restrictions on the strength of beer completly unacceptable. No government should be involved with how strong the beer is, a limit of 3.5% is damn uncivilised.
Of the Scandanavian countries I prefer Denmark, better beer, friendly and ever so slightly raving mad people.

That's my national stereotyping done for a while.

Actually Guzzipat, I find all of your criticisms about Sweden accurate. Things have only gotten worse, and now people are rebelling against uptightness through childish antics. I think Norwegians and Danes are much better to hang around than Swedes. I like older Swedes, but they don't represent the nation anymore.

It is a characteristic of youth. After birth women's hair get darker.
