Folks, Puerto Rico is expensive.

Please realize the cost of living in Puerto Rico is high. This couple got criticized a lot for being upset with having to adapt to Puerto Rican life. They wound up being criticized to the point of them hiding from the public. Lol.

The people in that culture are lazy, and flaky. Leads to labor costs being higher, even though incomes are not that high.

This lady also only seems to be looking in the tourist areas, which are going to be overpriced. She could find much cheaper accommodation outside those tourist areas, but the type of housing conditions would probably not be up to her standards, and crime rates can be higher.

The territory is also less industrialised and has more difficult access to raw materials due to its size and being located in the tropical zone, which leads to higher construction material costs.

Electricity in Third World areas can be unreliable and more expensive.

A lot of those consumer items are imported from the mainland.
