Russia needed to make gas more expensive, so they destroyed some oil refineries. Bad news for most of the world's economy.

And bad news for security and stability: our goal is not to destroy ISIS as it will lead to no positive outcome for us or Syrians. It is to make ISIS, Al Qaeda, Iran and others destroy each other. ISIS was weakened, weakening or strengthening it further is not desirable. This bad situation was as good and stable as the Middle East can be at the present time.

As for Russia their goal is to please their customers (Iran and Assad) and to make oil more expensive.
